Why take the AP Exam?

Dear Parents and Guardians,

If your student is currently enrolled in an Advanced Placement (AP) course, we encourage you to help them take the next step by registering for the AP exam! Taking an AP course and its corresponding exam can provide valuable opportunities for students to prepare for college, strengthen their academic skills, and potentially save time and money on their future college education.

Why Take an AP Exam?

• Build skills and confidence: AP courses help students develop time management, study, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative skills that are valuable in college and beyond.
• Stand out to colleges: AP courses demonstrate a student's willingness to challenge themselves with rigorous coursework. In fact, 85% of selective colleges and universities report that a student's AP experience favorably impacts admission decisions.
• Prepare for college success: Research shows that students who earn scores of 3 or higher on AP exams tend to experience greater academic success in college and higher graduation rates. Additionally, three out of four AP students entering a four-year college begin with some AP credit.
• Save time and money: Many colleges and universities offer college credit or advanced placement for qualifying AP exam scores. This can allow students to fulfill graduation requirements early, skip introductory courses, and potentially reduce the overall cost of college.

AP Exams Open Doors Worldwide
AP is recognized by colleges and universities around the world. Qualifying exam scores may earn students college credit, advanced placement, or help fulfill admission requirements in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and many other countries. Policies vary by institution, but AP exams can provide students with valuable opportunities as they plan for their futures.

We encourage all students currently enrolled in AP courses to take their corresponding AP exams and make the most of the hard work they are already putting into their classes.
